FARNWORTH has found a uniquely sad way to mark the 100th anniversary of Scouting - by the burning down of a local Scout hut.
Firebugs are thought to have started the blaze at the community building in Devon Street at Moses Gate, the home to the 4th Farnworth Scout group as well as younger Cubs and Beavers.
Only the most stupidly deranged would get pleasure from such an action, so I suppose in a way we should feel sorry for them.
However, we won't because it's the dreams and hopes of the youngsters who use the place which have gone up in flames.
Personally, I'd like to see the culprits caught and made to work on re-building the place. Perhaps the similarly arson-minded might then feel it wasn't worth the effort.
