DOCTOR Foster’s back – with all the dark drama that made the original such a TV hit two years ago.
Manchester actress Suranne Jones is absolutely brilliant in the lead role of the good Doctor, although you do wonder how her career survived her antics in the first series of this tale of domestic warfare.
Gemma Foster is divorced from Simon (Bertie Carvel) who had an affair and has now re-married and moved back into the neighbourhood.
In the first episode, Gemma threatened to go psycho again at Simon’s wedding party and son Tom leaves her to live with his dad.
Last night, there were more plans to get her revenge and get Tom back but, being Gemma, plenty of bad decisions along the way.
As always, the drama written by Mike Bartlett, is compulsive viewing. Suranne Jones is a remarkable actress who has that great gift of stillness that shows in her face. She simply indicates so much by doing so little.
Just can’t wait for next week’s episode!
