HAS Bolton Council finally flipped by spending £30,000 on brightly coloured elephants?
I know that, to the council, Bolton town centre is the centre of the universe, but the people of outlying districts such as Blackrod, Horwich and Westhoughton don't necessarily share that view, but through no fault of their own have to pay council tax to Bolton Council.
I daresay they will say this money did not come from council taxes but I am sure they could have spent it more wisely.
The comment that this will be a tourist attraction - there have been many letters explaining how they are slowly destroying Bolton town centre - people will avoid Bolton as there are very few decent shops, no market hall, no decent public toilets, expensive parking charges - need I go on?
I don't think a few coloured elephants will make me go to Bolton town centre.
Anne Fordham, Blackrod
