IN the Bolton Scene of March 7, there is an article, "Bolton Services Among the Best", about the council getting top ratings from the Audit Commission for the fourth consecutive year.
These services included adult social care and environment.
In a joint statement, Cllrs Cliff Morris, Alan Rushton and Barbara Ronson seem to be more interested in top ratings and patting themselves on the back for a job well done. But what they don't say is who achieved the top ratings.
It was not the councillors. It was the people who actively do the job - in the case of the adult social care (Home Care Services), it is those with hands-on experience, front line workers, the very people now taking legal action against the council over the equal pay compensation fiasco.
And still to come, the people working in environment, the street cleaners and the binmen who keep Bolton clean. What thanks do they get? They are told their pay will be cut. Talk about the Bolton Family. I am glad the council is not a member of my family.
