I read that the plans had been passed to build 36 apartments on the site of Wingate's Social Club, and the car park which is still used by the majority of customers of La Scala.

These plans were rejected by Westhoughton Council and by Bolton Council due to lack of parking and the amount of traffic on Chorley Road.

There has been no increase in the parking spaces and there has certainly been no reduction in the amount of traffic.

Therefore can someone from the planning department, or even better, someone from the council explain why this unchanged application was passed.

Also passed were plans to build two flats on "wasteland", which has "historically" been used for parking in Albion Street. I would like to ask that if this land is now used as a car park where are these cars, and the extra cars that this development will generate going to park?

I think that the planners should have at least visited the site.
