IN reply to the letter from Mr R Stewart of the Crompton Way Residents' Group, dated March 12. Perhaps Mr Stewart's choice of residential home location should have been in a quiet cul-de-sac, instead of a busy dual carriageway.
As present the speed limit is in fact 40mph, why does Mr Stewart think that a 30mph speed limit will be adhered to any better, and not, as he quoted, "be used as a race track".
Bolton is reputed to be an expanding and forward thinking town and possibly looking toward city status in the future. Just maybe by converting a main relief duel carriageway into a single carriageway, may not be the best way forward.
Maybe instead the council should be looking for alternative safety features which may prove to be the best way forward for our town.
I am a car driver and a motor cycle rider, and I regularly ride a bicycle.
Mr M S Todd Albert Road West Bolton
