I READ with dismay about the supermarket being built on the land currently used by Westhoughton Cricket Club.

Surely nothing has changed since Bellway's proposed plans for houses were turned down? Not because of the traffic or too many houses, but because it wa snot council policy to build on recreational land.

These are words of a Labour councillor (not mine). So what has changed?

If Westhoughton needs another supermarket so badly, why did the council let all the houses and flats opposite the Co-op be built?

Surely a new supermarket could have been built there? But it seems common sense does not matter when money is involved.
