NOT having lived in Westhoughton very long, but noticing the amount of new properties being built, I am all in favour of Sainsbury's opening a store. There is absolutely no competition for the Co-op.
It would be an advantage also for people who haven't got their own transport as it is not far from the town centre.
The cricket club would seem to be well placed and would provide extra leisure for youngsters.
If the old market was made into an arcade type with a dozen or so small units, this would protect the small business people. A refurbished market could in no way compete with Bolton Market.
All the above seems just like common sense to me, unlike all the councillors who just seem to fight with each other, so nothing gets done.
