EAGLEY Junior School's literacy co-ordinator Anne Lloyd is so right about reading.
"Reading underpins everything we teach, it's fundamental to learning," she commented as the school officially opened its £90,000 new library.
The sad reality is that too little time is generally given to teachers in primary schools to just sit and hear children read. And too few parents are prepared to spend time doing this regularly with their youngsters at home.
The children at Eagley are really enjoying their new library, and children will respond to books if they are allowed to develop the reading habit.
It not only sets them on the right road to development, but opens the door to a lifetime of literary pleasure.
