AS residents of Crompton Way, we welcome Bolton Council's decision to install cycle lanes and speed restrictions on Crompton Way.
Over the years, we have had many accidents brought to our doorsteps, some involving fatalities, all of them, without exception, due to excessive speed and erratic and dangerous overtaking.
The section between Tonge Moor Road and Thicketford Road is used as a racetrack, particularly at weekends when this stretch of road resembles a cross between the TT races and Brands Hatch, with motorcyclists and car drivers vying for first place.
We look on admirably at the example of Moss Bank Way where traffic control and cycle lanes have sorted out what was a very dangerous road, and looked forward to the day when our road would be made as safe.
Well done, Bolton Council, get the job done as soon as possible before some other carnage takes place on this particular stretch of Crompton Way.
Keep Death Off The Road. All arguments and contradictions pale into insignificance against these five little words.
Mr R Stewart Crompton Way Residents' Group Bolton
