I write in response to two previous publications. Firstly, Sarah Matthews commenting on monies spent on Children's and Adult Services in Bolton compared to Oldham.
Yes we have been short-changed by this Labour Government by not giving us the resources to service the vulnerable that is required - £4.7 million cut this year. I have nothing but admiration for the staff of Adult Services who do an excellent job with the funds available. As chairman of The Adult Services Scrutiny Committee I will endeavour to ensure that the money is used efficiently.
Secondly, I refer to the Labour Leadership's advertisement on the Budget. This was coloured in reassuring, warm, soft, pink. Where is the red of New Labour? Was this an attempt to hide the fact that Bolton Council has had to cut £37 million from its budget?
