WE would like to say we completely agree with Victoria Sherrington's views, (The Bolton News, March 3) about Bolton Council's proposed move of the Farmers' Market from its present venue at Moss Bank Park.

It is typical of Bolton Council that as soon as they see a way of making a bit of money out of a successful event they interfere and put the kiss of death on it.

They have already killed off the small traders in the Market Hall, which had been a successful business venue in Bolton for more than 100 years, much against the wishes of the majority of the people of Bolton.

Why can't they listen to what the people want, after all they are elected to represent the people. But no they see the chance of making a bit of money, in this case by accommodating more stalls by moving the market possibly to the town centre.

If they stopped and thought for a moment they would realise that the reason why this Farmers' Market has been so successful is because for most of the people that attend it is an enjoyable morning out for all the family.

Not only can you buy fresh healthy food but also enjoy the other facilities that Moss Bank Park has to offer. The children can enjoy a visit to the animal house, ride on the swings and roundabouts or play a game of football, while young and old alike can take a walk in the fresh air, exercise their dogs or spend a few quiet moments in the delights of the walled garden.

As Ms Sherrington says the only people who want this move are Bolton Council and like her, our family will not be attending the Market any more if it moves from Moss Bank Park, so come on Bolton Council wake up and listen to what the people want for a change!
