THE funeral of brave mum-of-one Rowena Darby was held yesterday.

It was so sad to hear that Rowena had lost her battle with cancer aged 34.

The Bolton News first reported on Rowena's battle in 2013.

When she first found out her cancer was terminal she decided she would leave a lasting legacy for her son Freddie — and wrote birthday cards and Christmas cards for him for then next 17 years, right up to his 21st birthday.

Rowena will be truly missed — but she is an inspiration to us all.
