MAY I use your letters column to express my thanks for 31 years I have lived in this sheltered complex.
I am not quite the oldest at 85, but I was the first to be allowed a tenancy under the age of 60.
I was shocked only to be offered a bedsit at the end, almost, of a long corridor on the top floor, being badly disabled, but I was desperate – and I could see the potential.
I was told if anything else became available I could change.
However, I was able to furnish it in my style and soon settled in.
A lot of changes have taken place since 1983.
We had two live-in wardens then, which was later reduced to one, then she could live out, and we got Careline for five days.
I have always been happy here and now we have a really great lady for five days, but she cannot always be here due to the excess paperwork at The Valley.
She is a compassionate and capable lady and I feel lucky to have her in charge.
I am supported by my caring family and so, I am well blessed.
I live very privately but could socialise if I was lonely.
I love the market nearby and I have always found all I need there.
So thank you to Bolton At Home from a grateful long-staying tenant.
