I WRITE to voice my concerns that the application to demolish the Theatre Church in Astley Bridge, had been originally expected to be decided by the director Keith Davies under delegated powers which means that he will make the decision on the application.
Speaking as a former chairman of planning for the council and as an admirer of this magnificent building I believe that the potential loss of such an icon would be a sad loss not just for the area but also for the wider implication as this is the only Theatre Church in the Country.
Applications like this should always be determined by the planning committee and not paid officers of the council. Sean Hornby Little Lever
