WHEN I wheeled my grey bin outside I discovered a double-sized mattress with soiled bedding had been fly-tipped directly in front of my front gate.
Another mattress was dumped a few doors away also. I reported this to the council and was told that it would be removed on the next street clean, which could take upto three weeks.
Three weeks? I asked would it really take that long and was told it was a distinct possibility due to “all the cutbacks” (an excuse the council rolls out when it suits them, although they always seem to find money for pet projects).
So I now have to live with a dirty mattress and bedding propped up against my wall, acting as a fire hazard should some hooligan decide to set fire to it. Bolton is sinking under the weight of its own detritus.
