A LETTER to the Bolton News by John Swarsbrick summed up far better than any journalist could local feelings over the departure from Bolton Wanderers of Kevin Davies.
He pointed out how like Nat Lofthouse “Super Kev” was – “Neither of them complained when fouled but just got on with it and both were pillars of the team.”
He felt that Kevin was the “perfect example of a national footballer doing the right things as an example to youngsters.” The footballer had not had to start his own children’s charity but he had; he concluded by thanking Kevin and his wife Emma “for living amongst us and being perfect examples of what role models should be.”
Hear, hear. Whatever the future brings for the Davies’s, you will both always have friends in Bolton you’ve never met but who appreciate the special things you brought to this town.
