I WAS asked to be take part in the University of Bolton’s latest business spotlight event for new businesses started by students and ex-students.
Five would-be entrepreneurs pitched their business plans – with some outlining how their current company was working - in the hope of winning £1,000 worth of support and services.
This is the second “Dragon’s Den” style event where I’ve been a “Dragon” alongside a couple of other local business people and the standard of businesses pitched continued to impress.
It’s very easy to assume in the current financial climate when business news is often negative that there is little movement among new companies, but nothing could be further from the truth. Here were individuals as passionate, committed and hardworking as any established company, and keen to take their business to the next level with a bit of help.
It actually left a genuinely hopeful feeling about British business, and that the future – backed by bodies like our own university - was in good hands.
