IT looks as though Kevin Davies and his family may be leaving this town of ours in view of the decision not to offer at least a further one-year contract.

We all know there is a time to call it a day, but obviously Kevin does not feel that at present.

I was Nat Lofthouse’s Treasurer in his Jubilee Year and, although he scored more regularly than Kevin, they can be talked about in the same breath as far as Bolton Wanderers are concerned.

Neither of them complained when fouled but just got on with it and both were pillars of the team, possibly more so Kevin now due to the lack of talent around him.

He will not be everyone’s favourite as football is a matter of opinion but, for all the years he has been here, he has put himself on the line.

Kevin is a perfect example of a national footballer doing the right things as an example to youngsters.

He did not have to be the instigator of a charity for kids, but that is how he saw life here in Bolton, which he had become to call home — how’s that for a Yorkshireman!

All we Bolton supporters can say is thank you to Kevin and his wife, Emma, for living amongst us and being perfect examples of what role models should be.
