EVERYONE was horrified at the Farnworth care home abuse scandal which resulted in two women carers being jailed.
Now, Bolton Council is planning a major reconstruction in the way it runs its care homes after a damning report. Although this highlighted an overall good service at this particular home, a lack of good leadership required a fundamental review.
As a result, there have been 15 recommendations including the appraisal of management and improving the whistle-blowing policy. This is all positive news and plainly much needed.
Families need to know that elderly and vulnerable relatives are cared for properly and compassionately. We certainly don’t want more shocking headlines of cruelty and indifference to those we love.
