IT will be worrying news to many local elderly people that Age UK Bolton is losing its well-known town centre premises near the Ashburner Street market.
The £4.5 million market revamp means the charity must leave its centre in the autumn. Hundreds of local people each week use its services ranging from providing insurance, information and will-making to legal advice and wheelchair hire.
Age UK provides a vital facility for the town and I’m sure council bosses recognise its importance. So let’s hope they help the charity find a suitable high-profile and accessible new site to allow them to keep up the excellent work they have done over many years for some of Bolton’s most vulnerable citizens.
