INJURY has forced Danny Ward to return from a loan spell at Coventry City.
The highly-rated 19-year-old had already had his progress at the Ricoh Arena checked by a calf problem but has now decided to return to the North West for a hernia operation.
Ward, pictured, had made four starts and one substitute appearance for the Sky Blues, who will pay a loan fee to Wanderers relative to the number of games he plays in the Championship.
But manager Aidy Boothroyd revealed yesterday that the youngster had suffered another setback, and could now be out for the next six games.
“Danny has had to go back to Bolton, he’s got a hernia,” he said.
“I’ve spoken to Owen Coyle and he’s gone back up there, he’s going to have his operation and, hopefully, we’ll get him back as soon as.
“I don’t know how long he’s going to take, it depends on the surgeon he sees, so we'll have to wait and see. A month hopefully.”
