STUART Holden limped out of a development squad game against Manchester City last night but is not thought to have sustained a serious injury.
The American midfielder hobbled off at Hyde United's Ewan Fields after 32 minutes following a robust tackle from City youngster George Evans.
It is understood the damage he received to his ankle is only superficial, however, and that it will not result in any further time on the sidelines.
Holden will not be involved in this afternoon's game at Watford after it was felt a full game for the Under-21s would better aid his return to full fitness, after nearly two years out of action.
Last night's game also saw the return of David Wheater after a cruciate ligament injury sustained last April. The big defender completed 65 minutes in a 3-3 draw.
New signing Jan Gregus capped his debut with a fine goal, with Wanderers' other strikes coming from Jack Sampson and a Dedryck Boyata own goal.
Cian Bolger also made his first start after arriving from Leicester City on transfer deadline day.
