WANDERERS have passed on the opportunity to sign former Everton midfielder Leon Osman.
Phil Parkinson confirmed he is currently not looking to offer the 35-year-old ex-England international a deal after a brief trial last week.
Osman is on the lookout for a new club after leaving Goodison Park in the summer but the Whites boss is happy to leave things as they are for now.
“We invited Leon in for a day’s training but I think we’re going with what we have got for now,” he said.
An injury to Lewis Buxton which rules him out for the next three weeks could mean Parkinson is forced to seek some defensive cover.
Lawrie Wilson’s encouraging performance at right-back last weekend may have paused the search for now – but chairman Ken Anderson is understood to have given Parkinson the all-clear to bring on board another signing if he sees fit.
Having retuned to winning ways in the last two games, the Whites boss may be reluctant to rock the boat. Results suffered after the addition of five new players – Keshi Anderson, Tom Thorpe, Ben Alnwick, Sammy Ameobi and James Henry.
For now, he is content to build on what he felt was an encouraging performance against Swindon.
“We created as many chances in that game as we have for a while,” he told The Bolton News. “And I was very happy with that.
“If we continue to do that, stay within a structure and keep solid, then that is all I can ask.
“The goals will come. We’ve had a good week of training, the strikers have been sharp, but we’ve got to keep believing in them and creating the opportunities.
“I do think we’ve got the players who’ll take those chances. We didn’t last week but still got the win – but we have to keep going.”
