RADCLIFFE Borough were left cursing the linesman’s decision which allowed the only goal of the game to stand at Colwyn Bay in front of a crowd of more than 400 in the Division One North.
Boro were certain Ashton Taylor – on loan from Tranmere Rovers – was offside when he put Colwyn Bay ahead on 36 minutes.
The visitors were further incensed five minutes from time when Steve Howson's goal-bound effort appeared to be handled on the Bay line before it was cleared.
New signing Andy Barlow from AFC Liverpool made his debut in centre midfield, in place of Mark Jones who was suffering from tonsilitis, and Ben Wharton partnered striker Howson in place of Adam Roscoe who was suffering from a knee injury.
Boro take on Skelmersdale United in the Lancashire Co-Operative Cup final at the County Ground in Leyland tomorrow night, kick off 7.30pm.
A Carl Lomax double earned FC United of Manchester a terrific win at Marine in a crunch clash on Merseyside.
The Reds took the lead on 34 minutes with a Simon Carden strike – only for Marine to reply immediately with two goals in 60 seconds through Peter Cumiskey and Wayne McDermott.
United fought back and Lomax equalised a minute before the break and added a second on 62 minutes.
Saturday’s win was the latest plus in a fantastic run of form for FC, who have gathered 13 points out of 15 since early March, restoring their promotion hopes.
With five games left, FC face Ossett Town at Gigg Lane on Wednesday and North Ferriby, again at home, on Saturday when entry will be free for under-18s.
