LEIGH Centurions have pulled off a coup by signing former Australian schoolboy international half-back Joe Williams subject to visa clearance.
The 25-year-old Williams has made 46 appearances in Australia’s NRL for South Sydney, Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs.
“He’s a great player,” said delighted Leigh coach Neil Kelly. “He’s got great pace around the ruck, which is something that we need at half-back and I’m really excited by his signing.
“We are just waiting for the UK Border Agency and the Australian authorities in Canberra to rubber stamp his move. I’m hoping he will be here towards the middle or the end of May.”
