NEWCASTLE United are waiting to see if Wanderers are successful in their fight against the drop before making a move for midfield ace Mark Davies.
Reports in the North East claim Alan Pardew has put the 23-year-old playmaker high on his summer shortlist as he looks to build a squad that could potentially be playing in Europe next season.
Davies is contracted to the Reebok until 2015 and has been earmarked by Owen Coyle as a future England international.
The Magpies have scouted him for the last few months, hoping to take advantage of Wanderers’ precarious situation, but any form of approach would be strongly rebuffed for the time being.
West Brom were credited with an interest in the Midlander, who arrived in January, 2009, from Wolves, but no firm offer has materialised.
