It is still relatively early in the League One season but the table is starting to take shape heading into the busy winter months.
Wanderers currently sit in sixth place, having won six of their opening 11 fixtures, although they have played a game fewer than most of the sides around them.
But what have opposition managers had to say about Ian Evatt’s side over the past few months? Here are some of the most interesting quotes.
Paul Simpson (Carlisle)
“You have got Dion Charles, who has been prolific over the last two seasons. The other big striker (Victor Adeboyejo) is a real handful,” said Simpson.
“They are a footballing team and all of the players are comfortable on the ball. The two wing-backs are very positive.
“The left sided one (Randell Williams) is actually a winger but he is playing as a wing-back, and Dacres-Cogley I liked at Tranmere. They have got really attack-minded players.”
He added: “They play a shape that gives you problems because they are comfortable on the ball and they want to play out, whether it’s Sheehan or Thomason playing that holding role and then Morley and Dempsey.”
Steve Evans (Stevenage)
“They arguably will be the champions, for me. I think Bolton are a bit special,” Evans stated.
“I wish the club every success. We will try our best to beat them when they come and play us at the Lamex. But other than that, I would love to see them go and get promoted because they are a great club.”
Andy Crosby (Port Vale)
“Bolton are a fantastic example of bringing in a manager and creating an identity,” said Crosby. “They are a lot further down the line than us in terms of what they are trying to do.
“They play really good football, have a really good manager and finished in the play-offs last season. I would imagine they will be looking to be even better than that this season.”
He added: “They are a really good possession-based team, a really good technical team and if you give them too much room to play, they can control the game and spend a lot of time in possession.”
Darren Ferguson (Peterborough)
Ferguson simply stated: “There is no question Bolton will be there or thereabouts (this season).”
Ruben Selles (Reading)
“(They are) intense, aggressive, direct, and knowing exactly what they are playing for, with a really good mix between experienced players and players in their peak,” said Selles.
Dino Maamria (Burton)
“Bolton are a top team and they have quality players everywhere,” Maamria added. “They could field two teams and they would both finish in the top six, that’s how strong they are.”
