Ian Evatt isn’t concerned about Jack Iredale after the defender missed the 4-3 win against West Brom with a knock.

Iredale has been regularly involved in pre-season after missing the second half of last term due to a knee problem.

Evatt says the defender has a “slight niggle” and was not risked against the Baggies ahead of next weekend’s opener against Lincoln.

The Bolton also shared a promising update on Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who hasn’t featured since he was forced off during the 2-1 win at Salford.

“He has got a slight niggle and we decided not to take the risk at all today, but there is no issue with that,” he said.

“It looks to me like the report from Jon’s scan is really positive. There is no muscular injury, it looks more neural.

“Hopefully, it will settle quickly and he will be back with us in the next few days.”

Wanderers came from behind twice en route to victory against their Championship opponents, and Evatt was pleased with his side’s response.

“The first 10 minutes was all a bit like Tuesday (against Everton) – we were trying to get to grips with what they were doing and how they were playing,” he added.

“We are really aggressive with the way we want to play. We were pressing really high and sometimes if they break that press, it can leave us a little bit exposed at the back.

“They exposed us in the first 10 minutes before we got used to their rotations, their movement and the speed of the game.

“Once we got used to that, I thought we had a lot more control and caused them a lot of problems.”
