WANDERERS are hoping a tangled transfer web unfurls this weekend to pave the way for Craig Dawson’s move from West Brom.
Dougie Freedman has so far been frustrated in his efforts to land the centre-half, with the Baggies initially putting the move on hold to allow Swedish defender Jonas Olsson to recover from a groin problem.
But the situation has now been further complicated after Wigan Athletic emerged as potential rivals for his signature on a permanent basis, when defender Ivan Ramis was ruled out for the season.
West Brom have been linked with a loan move for Liverpool’s Sebastien Coates, which if completed and timed with Olsson’s return this weekend would push Dawson even further down Steve Clarke’s pecking list.
The Baggies boss is reluctant to let the England Under-21s star leave for good, however, and is believed to favour a loan.
But to add a further twist, there have been reports that ex-Hawthorns coach Michael Appleton – now manager at Blackburn Rovers – is also willing to take him to Ewood Park.
