THE Bishop of Bolton is giving away apples as part of his campaign to re-brand Halloween.
The Rt Rev David Gillett will be dishing out the fruit in Manchester on Monday.
Each apple will carry a sticker inviting people to visit a website and make "Halloween Treat" donations to Church of England charity the Children's Society.
Rev Gillett, who will be outside St Ann's Church in St Ann's Square, said: " The idea of kids helping kids at Halloween is a positive twist on Halloween."
The Bishop has already persuaded supermarkets to stock a more varied range of Halloween gifts to move away from the "darker" side of the festival. The website is www.halloweenchoice.org
