THE leader of Bolton's Liberal Democrat Group today spoke of his anger at claims his home is being used as a massage parlour and strip club.
The false allegations were made about Cllr Roger Hayes on Bolton Council's planning website.
It was alleged by an individual, whose name and address has since been found to be false, that the councillor's Smithills home was a sex den.
Cllr Hayes has dismissed the allegations, labelling them false, upsetting and ridiculous.
He said: "I laughed it off to begin with but my partner Jaleh was very upset and was in floods of tears. She is Muslim and was so ashamed that she did not want to tell her daughter. It is very upsetting.”
Bolton Council has investigated the claim and closed the case.
A sokesman said: "A planning officer visited the complainant, but the address was unoccupied and the complainant’s name does not appear on the electoral register. We are therefore not investigating the planning complaint further.
“However, as the complaint appears to be malicious, we are investigating to see if it was submitted from a council-owned computer.”
Greater Manchester Police confirmed it had received a complaint over the allegations.
