AN entrepreneur toy maker who rejected a £100,000 investment on Dragon’s Den is giving away hundreds of his creations.
Danny Bamping, originally from Bromley Cross, is responsible for the Bedlam Cube, a toy craze which swept the country three years ago.
Hailed as the new Rubik’s Cube, the puzzle involves fitting geometric shapes into a cube in different combinations.
Mr Bamping gained notoriety when he appeared on BBC’s hit TV show Dragon’s Den, but rejected an offer from millionaires Theo Paphitis and Rachel Elnaugh.
His gamble paid off, because his toys sold out within weeks after he appeared on the show.
Due to the toy’s success, a range of cubes with the Bolton Wanderers logo was made, and Mr Bamping, a former Thornleigh Salesian College pupil, still has a few of them left.
He now says he will give them away to anyone who can write to him and give him a good reason for wanting one.
Mr Bamping, who now lives in Plymouth, said: “As we only have a few hundred Bolton Bedlam cubes left, I thought it would be nice to do something different with them.
“They may want it themselves or to keep a family member quiet, or perhaps they can’t afford a present.
“We’re willing to read people’s reasons and the best ones will get one.
“Some people have said I must be crazy to give them away —perhaps they’re right.”
The Bedlam Cube has recently been relaunched as the Crazee Cube to appeal to a young global audience.
Anyone who wants a cube should go to bedlamcube.com and use the online entry form.
