ANCIENT Egypt has fascinated people for more than 3,000 years.
And now Egyptomania has gripped Bolton.
For the town’s Museum, Aquarium and Archive is staging a new exhibition showing the influence of Egyptian art and culture on other civilisations.
The exhibition — called Egyptomania — shows a range of material from Roman sculpture and Victorian china and silverware to modern costume jewellery, tourist souvenirs and smoking paraphernalia, all influenced by Egypt.
The display was launched on Saturday, but to celebrate the opening of the exhibition, there will be a special Egyptomania Week during the February half-term, with family friendly events and activities, from Saturday, February 14, to Saturday, February 21.
Egyptomania runs until Saturday, May 9.
