Middlesbrough 1 Wanderers 3: Two goals in the first 10 minutes helped Wanderers claim three vital points against Middlesbrough at the Riverside.
Gretar Steinsson and Matty Taylor struck early on to end Boro’s five-game unbeaten run.
Emanuel Pogatetz pulled one back on 77 minutes but record-signing Johan Elmander’s second goal for the club less than 60 seconds later restored Bolton’s two-goal cushion and sealed the victory.
Steinsson headed home Taylor’s free-kick on eight minutes and Wanderers’ dream start got even better two minutes later when Taylor added a superb second.
Man-of-the-match Andy O’Brien and Gary Cahill were outstanding at the back as Boro dominated possession.
Pogatetz thought he had given Gareth Southgate’s side a lifeline when he rifled home from a corner with 13 minutes left.
But Swedish striker Elmander, an £11million summer signing from Toulouse, hit back immediately with a magnificent finish to complete a fine all-round Wanderers display.
