A dog has been seized by police following a frightening attack on a woman in Halliwell.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed to The Bolton News that the dog involved has now been located and seized.
We reported yesterday, January 7, that video footage of the attack had been passed on to police.
The footage shows the incident apparently taking place at around 2.48pm on Back Newton Street, near Rawsthorne Park, though officers reported it occurred on Wolfenden Street, just around the corner.
Earlier this afternoon, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police told The Bolton News: "A report was made of an out-of-control dog biting a woman on Wolfenden Street in Bolton on Wednesday, January 7.
“The victim suffered minor injuries.
“No arrests have been made and work is ongoing to locate the dog.”
At 5pm this evening, the police confirmed that the dog has now been seized.
The breed of the dog has not yet been confirmed.
Video footage sent to The Bolton News by a member of the public shows a dog, seemingly on a retractable lead, charging at a pedestrian and knocking her to the ground.
The woman is then seen trying to get up and run, only for the dog to tackle her again.
After around a minute, she is able to stand and walk away.
The attack happened just before parents and children would have been passing through Rawsthorne Park at the end of the school day.
