Police have seized two vehicles after traffic offences were reportedly committed in an area of Bolton

This morning, Thursday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers impounded the vehicles in Halliwell.

Police say that the first failed to stop for officers yesterday, Wednesday, while the second, a black Audi A4, was being driven without insurance.

A spokesperson from GMP's Bolton North neighbourhood team said: "Two vehicles have been seized this morning in Halliwell by the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team.

"The first vehicle failed to stop for officers yesterday afternoon. This morning (Thursday) the vehicle was located and seized under S165 of the Road Traffic Act in Halliwell.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish who was driving the vehicle at the time that it failed to stop for officers.

"The second vehicle, pictured below, was seized after officers witnessed it driving on Eskrick Street and the driver did not have any insurance in place to drive the vehicle.

"The driver was given a Traffic Offence Report and vehicle has been seized under S165 of the Road Traffic Act."

This comes after police launched their "Darker Nights" campaign, which tackles burglary, robbery and vehicle crime, as well as anti-social behaviour.

Chief Superintendent Emily Higham, GMP’s neighbourhood crime lead, said: “The aim of the ‘Darker Nights’ campaign is to provide an insight into what the force is doing to tackle neighbourhood crime, raise awareness of where incidents are taking place, and provide crime prevention and security advice.

“Throughout the autumn and winter months, our neighbourhood officers will be out in your community conducting high-visibility patrols, executing warrants, and pursuing and arresting offenders that are targeting you, your families, and your homes.

“We will continue to be proactive in targeting thieves, but we need your help and intelligence so we can act quickly against anyone who may be acting suspiciously in your area.

“We also want to encourage you to consider taking additional security and personal safety steps to help prevent yourself from becoming a victim.”

Incidents can be reported to GMP via 101, or by using LiveChat on our website. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
