Three people are in custody this morning after a fight broke out in Halliwell last night.

Emergency services were called to Halliwell Road during yesterday's rush hour — and used their vehicles block off part of the road.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Greater Manchester Police were called to an incident involving violent disorder on Halliwell Road, Bolton at around 6pm on Monday 2 October.

"Three men all aged 41 were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remain in custody for questioning at this time.

"Anyone with information that may help officers with their investigation are asked to call 101 quoting incident 3123 of 02/10/2023."

It is not clear how serious the injuries sustained are in the fight.

Local residents and businesses have spoken about how the feel unsafe in the area after a number of incidents which lead to police being called out.

One business owner said: “We don’t know what happened, but we saw the police cars outside our takeaway.

“It does make us feel a bit unsafe because so many of us have businesses here and it does not feel good to have this happen near us.”

Pictures from the scene show several police cars and vans at the scene as a crowd gathered in the area.

Another man: “We see things like this all the time here and it makes everyone feel uneasy.

“It is not good to hear but there is nothing we can do.

“All we saw was the police lights go past and that’s it, but there were a lot of people outside.”

Residents living nearby said they see police in the area often and say it also makes them feel unsafe.

A neighbour said: “Something needs to be done about the crime and things going on in this area.

“It wasn’t always like this but lately things are getting out of hand, but we have no idea what has actually happened.”

This is the second violent disorder incident police have investigated in recent weeks.

Last week a road in Great Lever was taped off after 'violent disorder' left two injured.

A number of people have been charged in relation to that incident which happened on High Street.
