A resident has called for more safety measures after a near miss with a van on a road known for speeding vehicles.
Tracy Thornton says that she was out walking her two dogs on Hospital Road in Bromley Cross when a van mounted the kerb, she was walking on “because they were going too fast”.
She says that it was lucky that she was keeping an eye on the road and saw the driver, otherwise, it could have been a different story.
Cllr Sam Connor who represents the area has said she and the other ward councillors are aware of the issue and are in discussions to get signs in place to warn of the bend, as well as other preventative measures such as double yellow lines.
Tracy said: “I'm so tired of having to cross the road at breakneck speed to avoid the racing cars. Today someone went way too far.
“A white van had to mount the kerb that I was walking on today with my two dogs because they were going too fast down Hospital Road, and they didn't account for oncoming traffic on the near blind bend coming down to the bottom near Smithy Croft.
“Thank God that I'm watching the roads and saw the driver and what was going to happen, or my family would have been dealing with the result of their recklessness.”
This is not the first time that Tracy has had to jump out of the way due to cars mounting the kerb and driving on the pavement because they're going so fast and not able to slow down in time to avoid a crash.
Tracy has previously spoken out to The Bolton News about the situation after a car crashed into a boundary wall in February of this year.

Cllr Connor said: “I am in constant communication with our chief of highways.
“And so far, double yellow lines have started to be put in place on Hospital Road, and this is expected to be expanded.
“This is because people are going round the parked cars, which is quite near to the traffic lights and they drive on the opposite side of the road, which is dangerous to other traffic driving, just so they can beat the lights.
“We are aware of the situation and are very concerned about it.”
Tracy further warned those in the community to remain vigilant and to be careful.
She added: “No one should have to die because people need to get through the lights before they turn red or get seriously hurt because they’re a few mins late.
“It's 20 miles an hour a reason not to wind people up.”
