A horror filmed in Bolton is taking the nation by storm.
Red Rose has won rave reviews since it aired on BBC 3 and Netflix and showcased the town the where the writers grew up.
The premiere of the drama, which is filmed in location in the town centre as well as Smithills and other places, took place at The Light Cinema in Bolton with the red carpet being rolled out for the stars and guests.
And the drama will again be taking to the big screen as the final three episodes of the series will be aired at the Light Cinema - with the proceeds going giving back to the people of Bolton.
The show’s creators and writers, twins Paul and Michael Clarkson, were born and raised in Bolton, and were adamant that the show, which they have described as a “love story to Bolton”, be premiered in the town.
BBC and Netflix Red Rose premieres in Bolton
Now the twins and The Light are again collaborating as the cinema will show the final three “cinema-worthy” episodes at a charity screening on Thursday August 25 at 7.30pm, the proceeds of which will go to creating scholarships for underprivileged people in Bolton to attend acting classes.
Michael said: “The proceeds will go to generate scholarships for a few underprivileged Boltonian's to attend local acting classes.
“Bolton has so much talent in it, but opportunities are rife.
“Watching the final three cinema-worthy episodes on the big screen and giving to Bolton at the same time feels like a fun way to round off viewing the show.”
Red Rose puts Bolton on international stage
Red Rose follows a group of Bolton students as they break up for summer following their GCSE exams.
Their relief of finished school soon dissipates as a sinister and seemingly all-knowing app infiltrates the group, promising reward for following its orders, but grave consequences for disobeying.
The show aired its first episode on Monday August 15, with the premiere taking place Tuesday August 9.
All episodes are now available on the BBC iPlayer or to watch on BBC Three.
