FIREFIGHTERS have been working overnight to battle a large blaze at a scrapyard.
Around 30 firefighters from stations across Greater Manchester were called at 3.22am to the fire on Moat House Street in Ince.
Crews from Bolton Central, Atherton, Leigh, and Stockport stations rushed to the scene.
The fire, which covers a 30m by 20m area, has taken hold on an outbuilding, piles of tyres, and a number of vehicles - including at least one HGV.
At least six pumps are on scene tackling the flames, with firefighters using four jets and a hose to target specific sectors of fire.
Residents have been urged to keep their windows and doors closed, as a large amount of smoke has covered the area.
A portion of the A577 Manchester Road has been closed in both directions between Makerfield Way and Brook Street due to the fire.
Motorists are urged to find alternative routes to kepe the area clear for emergency service vehicles.
