THE "Cinderella" search to find the feet big enough to fit a gigantic pair of trainers is over. At 7ft 2in, "gentle giant" Yakhoub Brahimsaid's size-19 feet were the perfect match for a pair of Adidas shoes which have been on special offer at an Astley Bridge sports shop for the last three months.
Tobutt Sports shop owner Dougie Tobutt offered the 16-inch long trainers for the princely sum of £1 in a bid to find a good home for the pair which he picked up in a batch of clearance stock that he bought.
But it took an appeal in The Bolton News to find a new lucky owner for the trainers.
Doorman Mr Brahimsaid, who lives just minutes from the shop, said: "A colleague showed me the paper and I went straight down to the sports shop the next day to pick them up.
"It is impossible to find size-19 shoes and there is only one place in Manchester or on the internet where I can buy shoes.
"Even then, I sometimes have to buy them a couple of sizes smaller, so they are too tight."
Mr Brahimsaid, who works at Bolton's Grovesnor casino and bingo hall, added: "The trainers are really nice and a perfect fit - and I got them for just £1, which is a real bargain."
Mr Tobutt said: "With the publicity, I thought we might find a buyer for the trainers.
"We had a call from one man who plays basketball but the trainers ended up going to Yakhoub, who is a very nice gentleman - sort of a gentle giant."
