FROM Viking marches to black pudding throwing, there is plenty going on around Bolton this week.

Here's our guide to five of the best....

CHANNEL YOUR INNER VIKING

GET your helmets ready for the second Viking March in Rivington.

By popular request, the event which debuted last year is returning.

Last year 180 people dressed as Vikings marched from Liverpool Castle up to Rivington Pike before heading down to the Great Lawn for a celebration.

The event starts at 11am on Saturday at Rivington Gardens. Vikings are promised: "Marching, food, drink, music, axe throwing, the great outdoors and much more on the way."

YOGA AT THE CHAPEL

TRY chair yoga at Bank Street Unitarian Chapel, Crown Street, Bolton on Tuesday from 10am to 11am.

It is ideal for those who are not as active as they used to be, challenged by health problems, limited by age or other circumstances.

It focuses on exercising and stimulating the feet, legs, arms, neck, back and even the brain.

ARE YOU A WANNABE?

GET your vocal cords in action for WANNABE.

It's a spectacular concert created to celebrate the career of the world’s biggest girl band, the Spice Girls, at the Albert Halls, on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

Representing the band, Hannah Thompson said: “We’re all obsessed with 90s music and we wanted to make a big splash with this huge concert tour. We’re creating the ultimate girls night out and who doesn’t know the words to Spice Up Your Life or Stop?!”

Be clear, Wannabe is not part of the Spice Girls' tour.

DON'T MISS JULIE

SEE the latest National Theatre live film screening at The Light Cinema, Bolton, on Thursday.

NT Live: Julie is a new version of August Strindberg's play, Miss Julie. It stars BAFTA Award-winning actress Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) and Eric Kofi Abrefa (The Amen Corner).

Wild and newly single, Julie throws a late night party. In the kitchen, Jean and Kristina clean up as the celebration heaves above them. Crossing the threshold, Julie initiates a power game with Jean – which rapidly descends into a savage fight for survival.

The film is certificate 15 and is available to book in 2D for the screening at 7pm.

BLACK PUDDING THROWING

START practising for the annual black pudding throwing contest outside The Royal Oak pub in Bridge Street, Ramsbottom which will be held next Sunday.

The competition which dates back to the 1980s sees Black Puddings hurtled at a pile of Yorkshire Puddings on a 20ft high plinth. Competitors have three turns in an attempt to knock down as many Yorkshire Puddings as possible.

Starts at noon.
