NEIGHBOURS who have been plagued by disruption from a nearby bus depot say building work to erect a noise-dampening fence is causing them further upset.
John Anderton of Conway Street, Farnworth says neighbouring firm, Tyrers Coaches, are filling gardens with dust and loud noise as they install an acoustic fence.
Mr Anderton, who speaks on behalf of about 20 homes, also raised concerns agreed landscaping work would not be carried out.
He said: “Probably for the last three weeks there’s been noise and dust from the preparation for the acoustic fence.
“It’s been horrendous.
“We understand [the fence has to go up] but what hasn’t taken place is any dialogue between the council and contractors.”
Both the council and Tyrers Coaches say discussions have taken place.
Mr Anderton added there were concerns if the fence was put up before the landscaping was completed it would not be done at all, however both the council and Tyrers Coaches have said landscaping will be approved and carried out.
Tyrers Coaches moved into the site off Bloomfield Road without council permission in 2015, since then neighbours have been battling to get the firm ousted from the site.
The company’s retrospective application to stay on the site was approved in June with a number of conditions, including the fence, which is currently being installed.
The company was also asked to create landscaping along the boundary of their site and the gardens of the homes in Conway Street.
The layout of the landscaping is yet to be approved between the council and Tyrers.
Matthew Buckle, director of Tyrers Coaches said: “We are in close contact with the council and are co-operating fully with their investigation.
“We believe we are in full compliance with the approved planning permission and are complying with the planning conditions.
“The planting, once approved by the council, will be installed at the start of the planting season in autumn.”
A council spokesperson said: “We’ve immediately responded to residents’ concerns this week, visited the site, and we have also spoken to the contractors.
“The work taking place does meet the planning conditions laid down and they have agreed to use dust suppression equipment.
“As part of the conditions they are required to do landscaping work for which they have now submitted a plan to be approved.”
