THE saga of the Moses Gate area disruption began with the electrification of the neighbouring railway in 2015.
Overnight engineering works caused massive disruption for people living in the Farnworth and Kearsley areas.
Network Rail said ‘essential work’ could not take place during the day due to the effect it would have on train services.

But in August, 2017 disaster struck when a burst pipe caused a bridge to collapse on to the railway below.
Major engineering works were needed to repair the bridge, massive road closures were put in place and a reduced train service was in force.
Network Rail said that roads around Moses Gate station in Farnworth could be shut for six weeks.
In fact that six weeks turned into months, and it wasn’t until February 26 that the bridge re-opened and then only partially.
