YOUNG chess masters are hoping that they will be at the top of their game when the represent Manchester at the national English Primary Schools' Chess Association final next month.

The team from Bolton School junior boys are through to the national competition after their winning performance at the regional final in Oldham.

Ilyas Khunda, Matthew Pearson, Suleiman Nisar, Hugo Hayton-Weed and Siddansh Kumar, all in Year Four, were presented with certificates to mark their achievement.

Julian Clissold, Chairman of the English Chess Federation, said: "The boys have maintained a long tradition of Bolton School children who have represented Manchester and ensured a strong presence in national tournaments."
