BOLTON Pride scooped a national award for its work in tackling hate crime at this year’s No2H8 Crime Awards.
Representatives from the organisation attended a gala dinner in London, where they found out they had won the Tell Mama UK Champion Award, a special award.
James Edgington, of Bolton Pride, said: “It is incredible to get the award and amazing to be recognised for the work we do and by the police.
“It was very humbling to be at the ceremony, we were so honoured to be there, there was so much diversity in that room all working together to tackle hate crime.
“We were in awe and so inspired and to know we are doing the right thing. To bring this home to Bolton is fantastic.”
Bolton Pride was established just three years ago, and as well as the annual pride festival, the organisation works closely with police to tackle hate crime. The organisation was nominated for the award by DCI Charlotte Cadden.
