BRILLIANT minds joined forces - in Bolton’s first conference for young Einsteins.
Pupils from Bolton School boys’ division, Canon Slade, Sharples School and UTC Bolton attended the science, engineering and technology event.
The problem solving conference, designed to inspire young people to enter the fields of science and technology, was organised by the Rotary Club of Bolton.
The University of Bolton organised the exercises and students from Bolton College were on hand to help if needed.
The exercises included balancing a kilo weight on a bridge made from paper and straw and creating a large tower out of newspaper which will balance an orange.
Margaret Clarke from the Rotary Club of Bolton, said: “We want children to go away having a lot of excitement about science.
“The pupils take part in different challenges and this is our first event but we hope to put this on every year.”
Tobias Read, aged 14, from Canon Slade, said: “I enjoy science, particularly doing the experiments.”
Tyler Titley, aged 13, from Bolton School, added: “In making the bridge to hold the kilo weight you have to think about the physics and maths you have learned in class.”
