BOLTON School girls division is among the best schools in the country, according to this year's secondary school league tables.
Based on the results Bolton School girls’ division has been placed in the top 100 schools, independent and state, nationally on the numbers gaining five ore more good GCSEs including English and maths.
Bolton School girls’ division is the best performing independent school in the north of England based on the English Bacculaureate and fourth best performing independent school in the country.
Bolton School boys' division failed again to have its results recognised by the department for education — despite achieving the second best results in the borough.
The school has again fallen foul of the Government's decision not to include IGCSEs in its five or more A* to C GCSE grades including English and maths, meaning the school is at the bottom of the Bolton's secondary school performance tables.
The school actually saw 95 per cent of its pupils achieve the benchmark.
The qualifications are seen by independent schools as better than the standard GCSE in some subjects, proving a better grounding than the current exams.
