SCORES of mums, dads and kids put their best foot forward to raise cash for Bolton Hospice.

More than 130 people took part in the #LOVEDOES 5k charity run in Leverhulme Park on Saturday.

The event, which was also held to raise awareness about the hospice, was organised by the Kings Church in Breightmet.

The Love Does Mission organises visits to elderly residents, local gardening groups and community clean-ups as well as other fundraising activities for its volunteers.

Ahead of Saturday's run, fundraisers paid a £5 ticket cost and were encouraged to get sponsors to raise as much as they could for the cause.

Susie Ingham, who organised the run alongside Kings Church volunteers, said the day was "fantastic".

She added: "We want to spread love in the community and encourage people to get involved. We want to do what we can for people and support them as much as possible and create action rather than just talking about it.

"The run itself was fantastic and we had a brilliant turn out with lots of children and families all joining in.

"From entries alone we had already raised more than £1,000 so I think in total we will have raised about £1,500 if not £2,000 which is just amazing.

"We have got lots more planned coming up which is all about getting out in to the community."

LOVEDOES will be presenting the money raised to Bolton Hospice in a cheque presentation on July 12.
